Step 1: I like to clip this hook at the end so use a light wire 2x long size 6 hook. This is a TMC 5212. Most your steelhead will attack this pattern head first so you will only need one hook, clip at the bend. Notice where I start the thread. |
Step 2: Jailhouse marabou gives nice blending of colors here, secure your feather about mid hook. Giving you room to clip the hook. |
Step 3: Tie in your UV Polar Chenille |
Step 4: Wrap UV Polar Chenille forward and tie off thread. |
Step 5:Owner's 5315 works well as a short shank streamer hook. |
Step 6: I use Power Pro as my way of securing the two hooks. 30lb works fine |
Step 7: Wrap Power Pro around hook shank and secure with thread. |
Step 8: Cover up your Power Pro with more UV Polar Chenille |
Step 9: If you have ever tied with Possum you are using the long guard hairs as a collar, to build size in the front portion of your fly. |
Step 10: Trim down the fluffy material of the possum, you will build on top of this during the remainder of the steps. |
Step 11:Tie in your Gadwall Feather tip first. I like using a really big feather! |
Step 12: Wrap your feather forward, you are still trying to build bulk in the front portion

Step 13: Sprit River's Striped Legs in Brown/Gold, I use three tie them in figure eight style. |
Step 14: 4mm Metallic Red Bead Eyes found and most craft stores, gives your baitfish a crazy look. |
