Grand Traverse Bay and Lake Michigan Fishing Report

July 23rd, 2014

Joe with a topwater crunchier

With some more seasonable weather this past weekend and into the early part of the week bass fishing really picked up. But guess mother nature had enough of that and we are back into the low 70's today. The week forecast says mid to low 70's for the week so water temps will once again chill down, means you just need to slow down your presentation

While topwater has not been on fire, the bigger bass have been looking up. Also really small baitfish patterns have been working the best size 6 type stuff like the seducer scuplin which can been seen in the VOD of Big Appetite Small mouth.

With our reservoir fishing really starting to heat up as bass transition into the flooded timber areas of these backwaters, August bass fishing should really start to pick up nicely. With some of our largest fish of the season still ahead of us. If you are headed out the deer flies are pretty bad, wearing a long brim hat and a BUFF type wrap really helps.
